Letter to Hurst Residents

Dear villagers,

We are super exited to announce that we are planning to run a Covid-restriction compliant physical show this year. Given the crazy 12 months we have all faced and how important the support and kindness of the village has been to so many of us, we are carefully crafting what we will be a celebration of all the wonderful things about Hurst.

The show will run over our normal last weekend of June (26th and 27th). There will however be a few differences in the show format that we wanted to inform you about.

In order to limit the numbers of people congregating in one area and to celebrate the wonderful community spaces we have, we will be running the show in a number of locations around the village. We will be encouraging the movement of visitors around the locations which include:

  • The village hall/Scout hut/Pre-school area
  • The school field
  • The church/community orchard/bowling club
  • Martineau green
  • There will also be the arts trail and treasure hunt around the village

The details of exactly what will be running in each location are yet to be 100% finalised and all will be subject to change depending on where we are with the Covid restrictions by the time of the show. At this stage we intend to use Martineau Green for:

  • The committee "hub"
  • The start and finish of the treasure hunt
  • Scaled back "arena", we won't be running this as we have done in previous years
  • A few of the usual guest attractions

We hope that you will be as excited as we are to be seeing the return of the show but also understand that you may have some concerns about the new layout. We want to reassure you we are working very hard to minimise any impacts on local residents and are taking the following measures:

  • Running a slightly shorter day
  • Planning the sound to minimise disturbance
  • Limiting the infrastructure that will be required
  • Making sure we have a team of volunteers to keep the green clean and tidy

To keep visitors safe as the move through our key locations we are working to put a road closure and one way system in place. This is yet to be finalised but as we have more details this will be circulated. Rest assured we will make sure that all residents will be able to have access in and out of properties at all times.

If you have any questions/ideas/would like to be involved with the show, we'd love to hear from you. Please send us an email at info@hurstshow.uk

We look forward to hosting a wonderful show for 2021 and really celebrating the fantastic village we are very lucky to live in and be part of. As well as again raising much needed funds for our local good causes.

Yours sincerely,
Hurst Show and Country Fayre Committee
