29th & 30th June 2019

Hurst Show and Country Fayre

Hurst Show and Country Fayre is a unique event held in Hurst, Berkshire, during two full days in June. Established 39 years ago, the 2018 show is over the weekend of June 23rd and 24th.

Thousands visit the show every year. Visitors say they like the friendly and rural, non-commercial atmosphere. It is a true village show that takes its support from all members of the local community and gives back generous support to deserving causes within the village and the local area.

New this year is an Antiques Valuation Show on the Sunday. Discover hidden treasure stashed in your attic. Auctioneers Martin & Pole will give verbal valuations on what up to two items might fetch at auction. There's a £2 per item charge for show fundraising. Security of items remains the owner's responsibility.

Also new is a music marquee with UkuladiesPlusOne, St Nicholas Singers, Occasions Singers, and Second Wind Band.

Great news, the show's hobby horse championships which achieved international fame is returning. The show was proud to stage the UK's first ever hobby horse showjumping championships last year.

Also, the hugely popular Charmborough Ring belfry of church-type bells is coming back. Scores of visitors tried bellringing at the show two years ago.

By popular demand, the successful classic car & bike show and fun dog show are on both days this year. The food fair a hit last year, is expanding. Hurst's own Magic Circle magician Clive Winterton will amaze again. Families tell us children enjoy doing things for themselves like giant tugs of war, morris dancing and holding owls. See what they told us.

Plans include: terrier racing, pony rides and displays by search and rescue dogs, falconers and expert horse riders. Rural crafts and produce will be on sale. Ancient country skills will be demonstrated. The colourful cacophony of side shows, Aunt Sally and skittles, bar and refreshments will ensure wall to wall entertainment for all the family.

A fabulous and free exhibition of paintings, textiles, ceramics and furniture from eleven local artists and makers will be in the Village Hall on the Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can browse or buy.

We are planning a spectacular weekend. Come both days so you don't miss any fun!

The Show has raised many thousands of pounds, mainly for local charities and other good causes. St Nicholas Primary School has always been the principal beneficiary. The show also stalwartly supports the local scout and guide movements, Wokingham Red Diamonds Sports for the disabled, St Nicholas Pre-School, and many other good causes.
