We had some great entries to the Hobby Horse Contest this year, we hope you enjoyed taking part as much as we enjoyed seeing all of your wonderful creations!

A huge thank you to the BBC's Mike Bushell for judging this year's Hobby Horse Contest, and we can reveal the winners and runners up in each category:

Adult Category

  • 1st Place: Charlie Boy
  • 2nd Place: Hippy
  • 3rd Place: Hurst Flyer

Child Category

  • 1st Place: Candy Floss
  • 2nd Place: Jack
  • 3rd Place: Magic

We will see the winners again as they will feature in the 2020 Village Souvenir Magazine.

Enjoy getting involved in this year's virtual show by getting crafty!

Create your own hobby horse, and have fun decorating it in your own style, to make it 'Show Ready!'

Whether you enjoy sewing or want to use a sock, there are many ways to create your own horse. Here are some options:

A winner and two runners up will be chosen from both categories (Adults and Children) by BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell,

The winners and runners up will be featured in the 2020 Village Souvenir Magazine, and the winners of the 2 categories will gain free entry to next year's Hurst Show.

To Enter

  1. Purchase your Competitor Certificate
  2. Get creative and make your Hobby Horse
  3. Visit the Hurst Show and Country Fayre Facebook page - go to the Hobby Horse Competition 2020 event
  4. Add a post to the event page showing off your "Wonderful Creation!". Make sure to:
    • Add a max of 3 photos, including a photo with your Competitor Certificate
    • Tell us your horse's name
  5. Share your post far and wide and ask your friends to vote for you by liking your post.
  6. Display your Hobby Horse outside your house from the Wednesday leading up to the show for all to enjoy, and to increase your vote potential!

Judging

  • Entries should be made by 5pm on Friday 26th June.
  • Any style, but minimum requirement is that it should be a horse and should be on a stick.
  • The 10 Hobby Horses (5 from each category) with the most votes as of 3pm on Sunday 28th June will be shortlisted.
  • All reactions except "sad" and "angry" will count as a vote.
  • An overall winner and 2 runners-up from each category will be chosen from the shortlist by our judge(s), with the final decision communicated by the end of Sunday 28th June.
  • Winners will be featured in the 2020 Village Souvenir Magazine, and the winners of the 2 categories will gain free family entry (up to 2 adults) to next year's Hurst Show (no cash equivalent).
  • The winners and the two runners-up from each category will each receive a certificate and a rosette
